Anyone up for a field trip to the BC Museum in Victoria and the "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" exhibition that's running until April 6? We can add lunch and a side bar of some photography of our own, maybe walking the Galloping Goose trail or ...?

There were over 30 members attending the January meeting, with several new faces in the crowd (none of whose names I got. Welcome anyway!)
Chris Dixon ably chaired the meeting in his new post as Vice President, in Curt's absence.
Avril Kirby shared the results of the first meeting of the Eclectic Visions 2014 committee. Some points she covered:

Curt is away in Italy so Bob Rogers ably chaired the meeting.
According to the vote taken on-site re change of meeting days, Bob says, with an extremely marginal difference, our meetings days stay at status quo, every second Wednesday. 31 members voted.

A lovely nurse at Greenwoods has a 12 year old son who does not do well in school but loves photography. She is willing to pay for some lessons in the basics to support him in his interest. Is anyone interested?
If so, you can contact me at avek@telus.net and I'll be go-between.

Opening remarks: Bob Rogers chaired the meeting ably in Curt's absence. He led a discussion on how members chose to approach Jonesie's challenge to try something out of their comfort zone. Quite a number expressed discomfort at shooting people. (I know Margaret would have interjected something here but I'm not going to.)
Old Business: There is information now posted on site about the Miksang workshop running Jan. 12 and 13. All members interested in attending need to give a deposit…

An opportunity to take part in one of Salt Spring's best-loved photo shoots has been offered to us all this year. Gail Sjuberg, of Driftwood fame, has asked if anyone would like to participate in "A Day in the Life of Salt Spring" which, this year, has been thrown open to us commoners.
The rules are as follows:
Thanks for your interest in the Driftwood’s 2012 Day in the Life of Salt Spring Island project.
The idea behind the DIL publication is to depict island…

I was thinking on the way home from the meeting last night about ways to attract new members to the group, or just to get people to read my info sheet, and decided that some interesting statistics could help. What I need to know is;
How many are in the club now?
How old is our oldest member....and on the other end of the spectrum, how old are you, James?
How many years have you each been involved with photography, and as a really rough estimate,…
