                                           Place:  Gallery 8, Grace Sq.

Avril reported that all is going well and that she would like to ask for volunteers for two big tasks…

1.  Addressing envelopes for the mailing… neat printing/writing is the only requirement… she will need about 8-10 Volunteers…

And wouldn’t you know it with this club --- people leapt up to volunteer… Maggie, Jacqueline, Pierre, Patricia, Doug Mc, Timmy, Anna, Judy and MCB... Now that sounds like a fun afternoon…

If you would like to help… call Avril for time and place…  the more hands the lighter the job and the more chatter...

2.  We are also in need of Club sandwich boards (6) – the request was made for a volunteer to build some… and up jumped Dave Bartle… thank you Dave… you are Wonderful !!!

Free Series on the Art of Photography:  Greg Klassen will be offering “ Why Photography “…  on the 2nd Sunday of each month --- 2-3:30 at the Library… next one will be May 10…  Come on out and learn Photography from a whole new angle… little or no techtalk… lots of art talk…

Ladysmith Camera Club:    (April 28, 2015, 7 pm) is having a presentation on “Forensic Photography” by Constable Doug Giles of the Nanaimo Crime Scene Investigation Team…   This should be a fascinating evening of another whole area of photography… Hardwick Hall (3rd & High St., Ladysmith) There will be a $5 drop-in fee for non-members.

4. Educational Segment: Lo Camps of Nature Trek Canada… Lo is a scientist, raconteur, wilderness expert and very funny Dutchman… what a delightful evening we had seeing his wonderful images of our beautiful country…. Canada… From the West Coast to the far North and as far east as you can go… he told wonderful stories of his adventures in wilderness Canada…   showed us the magnificence of areas few people get to see… It was an entertaining, educational and refreshing presentation by someone who is passionate about his work and our Country… Sometimes we need to be reminded just how great it is… out there – just you and the wilderness… Where things are very real and not marketed/packaged or techno-ized…. Where Mother Nature is running the show…

Thanks Lo and thanks Bob Davidson for suggesting the topic--- it was an entertaining and educational evening…

5.  Evening Show/Challenge“ Challenging Your Creativity… “   the challenge was hijacked by MCB… Props were given out, and others chose to get their own props…  and amazing images came forth…

Thank you all who played with me… I was amazed and delighted with the work that was shown using the Props… It was beautiful, imaginative and interesting… I heard many say that they had fun, they used their imaginations, they stretched their comfort zone, they played and focused on their images more…

Doug of course took it over the top with his three breasted thingies from Outer Space… hmm… deep meanings in that I am sure… Maggies Magnolia’s on the tideline were surreal and the contrast was lovely, silk and barnacles…
The glass square were used by Chris, Bernadette and Avril to produce amazing images… all very different from each other…

Evelyn lost her marbles, but demonstrated making new ones from her own pictures… Pierre’s Selfie captured his true inner character… Reign’s frames in the forest and the forest framing Jan’s VW camper…

Well done all…  thanks for taking up my challenge… MCB

If you would like to see the evening’s show again…  Doug has posted it on our website… show your friends and families… it is super…

6.  Next Meeting:  Wednesday, May 13, 2015

                           Harbour House…  7:00 pm

7.  The Challenge for next month:  “Need Moral/Physical Support”  We have been challenged to venture outside our comfort zone…   WAY !!!! outside our comfort zone… and take a friend/buddy with us to lend support on the journey…   Take yourself somewhere that you have always wanted to shoot but haven’t had the nerve…  it could be a place, situation, time of day… maybe it is shooting people, icebergs or helicopters… Something you have always wanted to do, you would REALLY like to do it – if someone would come along with you for support…   Find a buddy… take the shoots… then treat yourself and your buddy to cup of tea and cookies when you have done it…. And gloat a little… you were amazing…. Challenge yourself…

Editorial aside: If you have any comments, corrections or additions please feel free --- all help is welcome…

I would like to encourage all club members to take part in the conversations on the website --- they are interesting and endlessly informative…  Share your pictures with the club on the site – you know we all love to look at images and it would give us a chance to get to know a little bit about you …  let’s participate…

Thanks for your patience...

Cheers… MCB
