I was about 12 feet from this raccoon. He was perched with his hindlegs on a tree branch and his front feet on a bird feeder we have on the porch. He wasn't very threatened by me because I was in a doorway with my camera taking this shot and we tolerated the raccoons raiding the feeder at night so they were used to us. He did , shortly, retreat because the local crows were very angry at him for being where he was in the daylight and were making threatening passes at him. (I didn't get that shot!)
