Minutes Oct 12 Meeting

The meeting was held at the Portlock meeting room and was well attended by about 20 people.

 

Opening Comments by Curt Firestone our esteemed El Presidento... good job Curt.

 

1.  Welcome of new members --- 4 new members and Pat who has been a member for 3 years..

 

2.  The Country Grocer hanging opportunity has expanded from 3 months to 5 months (Jan, Mar, May, Aug and Oct..... this is a great opportunity to strut your stuff... Contact Rachel Page if you are interested.

 

3.  Wendy is still collecting for Harbour House and will also be putting shows together for Lady Minto (a brilliant idea) and for Fritz theatre (another great idea) --- so that is three more opportunities to show your work.... contact Wendy for further information on any of those projects...

 

4.  The Biking Convention (Velo 2012) is coming to Saltspring June 21-23, 2012 - the club is in discussion about the Club's participation in the event --- another opportunity for some fun shooting...

 

5. The Photo Club organization is in need of some Volunteer help   - we are looking for an executive to carry on the work started by our founding members.... we especially need help in the Treasure, Membership and Secretary positions... there was also put forward the idea of a VP to cover for the President - especially has he heads south each year --- lucky dog...

 

6.  Rachel Page is having a solo show at the Saltspring Fine Art Gallery on McPhillips... it promises to be wonderful and imaginative.... 

 

7.  January will see the beginning of discussions around Eclectic Visions 2012 - so start thinking about what you would like to see. 

 

8.  Next month's meeting will feature Uri demystifing and educating us all on HDR -- what on earth is HRD you might well ask.... Uri will tell us and it promises to be fun.... be sure to come and discover the next wave.... 

 

9.  Theme for November 9 meeting is Shadows...  go at it... have fun with it.... explore it .... 

 

The evening then continued with a presentation by Amy Melious, a Saltspring Photographer of note... the evening was on presentation of your work and was very informative and generated lots of ideas for everyone...

You ay have a job as secretary. Well done. Sure wish I had taped her. Some times we miss the small impotant things.

Well done Marg--I like all the little added asides. Nice to belong to a club where you can do that to something as usually dry as minutes.
