Mentorship Program with GISS/Agricultural Alliance: Don Romanchuk has taken on the coordination/liaison role for the Club in a cooperative project between the Club, GISS Gulf Islands Senior Secondary and the Agricultural Alliance Group… the aim is to have club members mentoring the students in photography while producing images of farms on the island for fundraising activities… Hearing from both the kids and the mentors already in place, it sounds like a great deal of fun is been had by all… There is promise of great things to come… There will be group shoots throughout the spring, so it is a chance to explore farms at a wonderful time of year, lots of action, lots baby critters and Spring in the air… it just doesn’t get any better than that on SSI…. Don is still looking for a few more mentors – so if you are interested in some great photo-ops give him a call… Thanks Don, he can be contacted at don.romanchuk@me.com

Evening Educational session… the evening’s session was presented by Don Romanchuk , he was giving us a survey of some digital manipulation software --- Basically he was also assessing where we all were with photographic technology in the computer dark room… I think he probably found that we ranged from Wizards to – not so much… Don did give us some things to think about when we are determining what we need/want in a software to work with photos…
It will be interesting to watch what develops as a program… Don is a very experienced instructor who obviously has a great deal of knowledge and experience to offer… and enthusiasm… So come on out and learn stuff… it doesn’t hurt, it is kind’a fun… Sometimes you might even remember it… Thanks Don and Curt for starting the ball rolling…
Evening Slide Show: The challenge for the Evening was to find Found Art, Primitive Art, Quirky Art… etc.. well we certainly rose to the challenge and produced a whimsical look at SSI and surrounds… we found ART (Arthur Black), we found the Dentists gate, Mexican sink still life, Scarcrows, Fairy Doors, Buddha with mitts, Library art, Bubbles, a new Copper Pictograph.. and many many more wonderful photos… well done all…
It is always fun to see other people’s take on the world, what they find interesting and the angles they see it from…
Slideshow Challenge: The challenge for April is really a challenge… an image that captures or expresses “ VACANT “
