Hi Cliff--sorry to say this was just a small-whale shaped rock sticking out of the water.  Wish it had been yours!

There was a small whale in Churchill cove the other day - we think it was a small Orca - it browsed the whole cove and even went back to Madrona Cove behind us - but then left after some time.I was not here - I had gone to Victoria - but my son Tony witnessed it and took some not too clear images (which I have not seen) and I thought perhaps you had also seen it and I don't know where you were when you took this shot.

One of those rock whales. Nice sunrise...cold air escaping upwards.
