The trees and the rocks kept the "Cove" effect for me as the swans came in from a very choppy main channel.Dad sleeps while the five immature cygnets show off their waning youthful colours. The female is probably nest building across the way.

These are the five cygnets that we have been watching all year. The father wth the nap iiin progress is also a bird I have been watching for about seven or eight years and his behaviour is always the same. He is now in the process of removing the cygnets from his his famiy unit and nesting area -a procedure I have seen every year and he always seems to spend part of this time here in the cove. While he is doing this the female is usually preparing the nest area for the new gorup to come. The male ws the first Swan to arrive here about eight or nine years ago and we used to feed them -but have stopped- but they got used to coming here and we occasionaly will toss them some cracked corn.

Lovely against that soft green/blue water. But the bit of tree top left distracts me.
