The background was an unexpected surprise.I was on the Grace Point Boardwalk just before the Boat Show Steam whistles started to blow and when they did, this seagull - which I was photographing - just turned his head. The background is a) - the boardwwalk jhe is standing on, )b the reflection of blue sky and clouds in the almost calm waters and then 3) the long shadow of the boardwalk that went off to the left.It was an interesting combinatiowith an example of what a direct overhead shot can do with shadow. That was an asignment once in a photo class - high noon images in bright sun.

I'd have said water too, with a shadow (of a boat or building perhaps?) Really like the black corner and the mottled look of the surprise goes beautifully with the gull.
