I was going to praise your picture for it's power to evoke with the minimum of elements... Well, now I have listened to that exceptional performance - what a choir what a work - and my evening has changed.

Both so beautiful, the music and your creation. I wished I could have your photo in front of me as I listened to the choir. Thank you for a few minutes of gentle peace.

I was telling Elehna about the source of the title for this photograph, and thought it would be good to share on the club site too.  I seem to think of music a lot when I'm working on a photo and this piece by Eric Whitacre is really beautiful, and one of my favourites of his.

Here's a link to a performance of the piece conducted by the Eric Whitacre :)

Sleep

The evening hangs beneath the moon
A silver thread on darkened dune
With closing eyes and resting head
I know that sleep is coming soon

Upon my pillow, safe in bed,
A thousand pictures fill my head,
I cannot sleep, my minds aflight,
And yet my limbs seem made of lead

If there are noises in the night,
A frightening shadow, flickering light…
Then I surrender unto sleep,
Where clouds of dream give second sight.

What dreams may come, both dark and deep
Of flying wings and soaring leap
As I surrender unto sleep
As I surrender unto sleep.
