thanks everyone for the comments :)  Jacqueline, these photos were done on my computer using picassa, the free photo program from google.  (i still haven't figured out photoshop but that is what i'd prefer to use for layering images).  you can also do this sort of thing in camera, but i don't own one that can.

if you're using picassa you just select two photos, and click on the collage icon.  from the six choices of collage format you then select multiple exposure.

i've also taken one of Amy Melious' workshops, which was an inspiring introduction to different ways of using layers.

here's another experiment i did the other night using the white house to create a ghost like image :)

hope this helps - if you'd like to know more about how to do this just let me know :)

Wonderful sense of flying into the unknown in #1, eerie and mysterious. Perfect for tonight.

The first one really captures the eerie quality of this night - the second one confirms the ghostly presence we all are supposed to see tonight. It's great to see your imagination continuing to be so unique.

I'm with Trudy Joanne - I love the first one.....the mystery of it draws you in.

Though the ghostly cat's eyes peering out at you from the old building gives it a definite haunted spooky feel

Love the first one. Incredible ghost like look to it.

The second one looks like part of a horses head on the house.

Like the first one best.
