Nikon 200-500 @ 500mm, ISO 11'200*, f/5.6, 1/30s hand-held
Drove by this fellow late last night (after 9pm, Shyla spotted it). We parked across the road and rattled off 400 shots at varying shutter speeds, ISOs, and EVs from the driverside window. Due to something called 'ISO invariance' with many modern DSLRs (Nikon(/Sony?) especially), one of the best results ended up being this one, which I shot @ -2.0 EV, ISO 2800 then boosted about 2 stops of exposure in LR afterwards. (which roughly equates to an ISO of 11'200)
Comparing images taken at 10k-13k ISO, I had much more IQ overall with images taken at 2800-6400, and more editing bandwidth. Also of note is the very low hand-held shutter speed allowed by this lens' stellar vibration reduction.. The few shots taken while leaning the lens on the window were quite blurry due to the vehicle running/vibrating.
There were a few photos slightly sharper with comparable IQ, but this one was the better composition.

Great shot - I remember my Box Camera - anyone out there know what I am talking about?
Two of them (both males) showed up under our bird feeder. Quite a shock to see birds so much larger than we're used to seeing there. I too like the natural setting in this photo.
The lean of the branch is perfect for the lean of his neck. These guys are everywhere right now!
I like it simply for the colour and the peacock-perfect landscape he's in. That small hit of dark orange amidst all those cool colours is a real treat.
Exactly right Doug.
