The work of one photographer. I love it. See the web site or the project's  Facebook page.

The photographer:

My name is Brandonand I began Humans of New York in the summer of 2010.  HONY resulted from an idea that I had to construct a photographic census of New York City.

I thought it would be really cool to create an exhaustive catalogue of the city’s inhabitants, so I set out to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers and plot their photos on a map.  I worked for several months with this goal in mind.  But somewhere along the way, HONY began to take on a much different character.  I started collecting quotes and short stories from the people I met, and began including these snippets alongside the photographs.

Taken together, these portraits and captions became the subject of a vibrant blog, which over the past two years has gained hundreds of thousands of followers.  With over 180,000 followers on Facebook and 80,000 followers on Tumblr, HONY now provides a worldwide audience with daily glimpses into the lives of strangers on the streets of New York City.

An amazing effort.

I spent more time here than at any other website lately.

Thanks, Uri.

These are incredible!  Makes me feel like sticking my camera in people's faces.

These are wonderful, Uri, thanks for sharing them with us.

Hi Uri...what a marvellous way to spend a morning! The comments add tremendously to the stories. Thank you.

I love the idea and wonder how we could make it work on SS. BOSS (boots), FOSS (feet), HOSS (hippies), MOSS (men) ... ah, the list goes on!

Thanks URI...That is a tremendous 'doc' photo ensamble of great images of New Yorkers! I love the comments especially as it adds 'substance & character' to the images. Similar to what I was presenting in my last 2 presentations. This photographer Brandon Stanton (bstantonphoto@gmail.com) is 'truly living and opening up new doors and meeting incredible people along the way.

I wonder if he gets 'photo releases'- I imagine he does...as that's an easy way to get their stories too...

Yah Dale...BOSS,HOSS MOSS,WOSS,COSS (children), SOSS (Students), OTOSS (Old Timers of Salt Spring)...and the list goes on and on....:-))
