New York Times Photo Essay

Here is a link to a Photo Essay in the New York Times showing portraits from a rural area from the state of Kentucky in the USA.

 

I posted this here because it is different from much of the photography that we post on our web site.  To me it has a cutting edge of societal realism that is different from our own.  It is photo-journalism.

Great collection! If you compare to Saltspring, I think we have more of a luxurious rural community here. Not said with the intention to devalue the work of our own dedicated farmers, of course. But Saltspring is modern in a certain way.

parts of Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia, USA are very "hillbilly"  Very different than anywhere else
