As I shared at the last meeting, a three day convention of bicycle people is coming to SSI next year. The organizers are expecting over 200 participants - June 21-23. The name of the conference is: Velo Village.
Please note that Eclectic Visions will occur: June 7 through June 18, 2012.
We have been asked if we want to be involoved as the photographers for the event. I am not sure what that means. Some of the ideas that have been mentioned in the conversations:
1. Photograph events as they occur.
2. Photograph the individual participants.
3. Create images for publicity
A planning meeting of community participants is taking place on Oct. 26 in the evening.
Questions:
1. Should the club participate or is the date too close to Eclectic Visions?
2. If there are costs (printing, etc), who should pay? the photographer, the club, the conference?
3. Would you want to charge a fee to the Velo Village? They are raising grant funds.
4. Are you personally interested in participating?
5. Would you like to coordinate the Club's participation?
6. Can you attend the Oct. 26 meeting? I will attend but at the end of that week, I am away for six weeks.
7. Thoughts about what our participation should look like?
8. Other
Please, if you read this and have zero interest, I need to know that. Please say so as I do not want to have any false expectations of club interest in this event.
Thanks,
Curt

Lots of cyclists in one place can be a fine topic. I'm reluctant however to have the club getting involved in some sort of an "official" capacity; this can open the door to requests to "officially" cover other worthy events, etc. and thus another level of organization and commitment.
I recommend the members cover this event as they see fit, either individually and/or by forming a dedicated group that will volunteer to satisfy the photographic requirements of the Velo Village's organizers.
The club as a whole could treat this as a "theme" for that month.
I'm interested but at the moment I can't commit because I work on 2 of the days [thurs. and fri]. I read
all the comments and there's a lot to be considered.
