Just to play devil's advocate ....I prefer the filtered version. I don't find that the moss and lichens are lost and I like the meld of colours and find it altogether more interesting and textural, if there is such a word.

I enjoy the purely photographic first one, although the filtered alternative has appeal as a small sized abstract. The familiar details, like moss on alder and rose thorns, give me pleasure.
