This was taken about a week ago. It is a trap for counting the males and females. They release some and take some for a hatchery. They wait until the females are ready (change colour) and then they take the eggs and they fertilize them with the males. They have the eggs in a big bucket and add fresh water to make the eggs swell up. Then incubate the eggs.
The second photo is a week later and 4 were in the trap trying to get out.

Thanks, Trudy--interesting, and not much fun for the fish.
There is a count each day under a plexiglass. I was there at 12:30 pm and there was 16 females and 7 males so far today.
