They always do. Some melt off into the salal, some just carry on while keeping one eye on me. All of them are always deferential. Notice the tail tucked in.

I just learned that if I click on "View full size" then "+" I can then move it around and have a better shot of the subject. It would be nice if I could zoom, crop and save right here on the site. Any hints?

Yes, the slant of the wolf following the slant of the rocks is good, and, as Anna says, the echo of colour. You can't work on your photos on the website but there are plenty of photo programs, some of them free, that will do basic stuff like cropping and zooming and maybe a bit of changing the exposure to make your subjects pop.

I don't know for composition but that's OK, I do know for wolves. If you liked that one wait until I get to the pups, they'll melt your heart

Welcome Gil! I like all your wolf photos but this is the one I like best, compositionally.  I like the 3 bodies of water and the alert, central position of the wolf. Great colours in the seaweed.
