Our little island lost a bit of its Heart and Soul today...
I would like to propose that we come together as an island and pay tribute to Arvid's contributions to our Community by designing a fitting remembrance... to his spirit, his humour, his hugs... to his theatre, his music and to his view of our world...
Could we somehow make the boardwalk happen and build into a very funky performance area ( like his Clamshell and picnic area) for performances that encourage young/old talent... an informal free location that encourages hugs and smiles and sense of community... an Ode to Arvid...
Thanks Arvid for being in our lives and teaching us so much... and of course thanks for the laughs and the hugs... and making SSI a very special place to call home...

A brighter than life photo--suits the man.

I first saw Arvid when Gwen and visited SSI just to see The Hysterical Society.  One of the many reasons for moving here.  He was the first realtor that we used on the island.  We visited with him both on SSI and in Melaque.  He had a heart of gold and put a laugh in everyone's belly and a smile on everyone's face.  Salt Spring has lost a very special person.  A statue should be built in his honor.

There was nothing better than an Arvid hug.
