I know the mute are the invader species, introduced from somewhere, like the broom in New Zealand and the bunnies in Australia.  I happened to write about them for next years' calendar.  Thanks for all the info Cliff.

The mute swan is the srurdiest and most aggressive of all the swans. That is the reason that their numbers are increasing in north America - a detail of some conscern to birders. The Trumpeter is more slender  and they do not seem to fight with the Mute Swan - they just leave when the aggressor starts his threateing moves. The trumpeter has the largest wingspread (80") versus the wingspread of the Mute (75") but the mute is a heavier, more formidable creature.

They seem more delicate than the mute swans--are they? Or is it just distance that lends enchantment?  Beautiful photo, Cliff--love the soft colours and the way the line if swans bisects the picture.

Doug-If you take the ferry to Crofton and then proceed to Hiway #1 through the Indian village, when you then turn lright to go to the highway -look into the fields to your left. There are usually several dozen of these geese there.
