Just to clarify, I was referring to a Nikon 500mm f1.8 lens for weight and cost ($10.000)

Amazing shot--saw this on FB this morning. It's got around.

Would lose 1 stop of light with 1.4x TC, and the D750 maintains consistent autofocus up to f/8 equivalent which is where I would be at with the 200-500. I usually have plenty of headroom as far as ISO goes.

Fabulous shot. I really like the activity and personality showing through as aposed to the more 'portrait' captures.

With the 1.4x TC, how many stops would you loose with that lens? Especially when you like to use a faster shutter speed for wildlife capturing? I know they work well with fast lenses (f1.8 etc.) but then we are talking thousands of $ and a lot of weight to pack around.
