The white trails are the air bubbles; the shapes are the rocks in the bottom of my pond upon which the algea has grown. As the temperature cooled and the pond began to freeze, so did the air the algea gives off, captured in ice for us to marvel!

Yes, I have other images of this phenomena from a different angle that really show the rocks and the bubbles. I'm not sure how to add them here, but once I figure that out, you'll see them....
