This image works very well in B & W in my opinion. The dark sides of the walls contain the space well and force our eyes  to follow the dark figure walking into the lighter corridor. I wonder what he is thinking about as he walks through the alley.

The details show up well in black and white in this--the cracked pavements, the brickwork, all the dark panels and doors and the strings of lights.
