Does anyone have a good quality compact camera they would like to sell? or . . . if you don't have one for sale but can advise me on what to get, I would appreciate it.

I find the research on-line rather overwhelming.

I would like something that has manual capabilities as well as auto, macro, zoom, shoots in RAW and jpeg and more . . .

I will be taking a trip overseas soon ( U.K. and India) and am reluctant to take my DSLR because of the weight and bulk.

THANKS!

I suggest Canon G16 or Canon G1X. Both are given high rates in the surveys.

Simon did have a G1X that he wanted to sell earlier this year.

My Canon Powershot S95 was great. RAW, programmable or auto, only 3.8 times zoom, though, but took very good pics.

how compact is the compact that you need?  how much zoom? how macro the macro? I'm pretty sure that anything you take will do the job according to the law of happenings. but for really small compact the Canon ps S120 looks to be a nice one - better than the Pana LX7 is turning out to be. (I'm keeping my LX3!) The GX series also good, especially those with the articulated lcd.but if you are going to take something that big, why not invest in one of the smaller micro 4/3rds interchangeable lens cameras which now have some very nice lenses, including a greater latitude of zoom? (If you want to spend money I'd love to help!)

how soon?

You want to have a look at my Nikon 7700. it has a 2oo mm lens and all the high quality single lens              Nikon features. Comes with a uv and polarizing lens.

Thanks Bob, and everyone else.

I am now the proud owner of a FUJI X20 - I got a great deal on it and I didn't have to go off island - only barely used and suits my purposes. Now I just have to learn how to use it.
