As the title implies, I like the starkness and contrast between the subject and background.

Just a quick note on composition: If the intent is to 'balance' the subject within the frame, because it leans to the left, then you could try experimenting with nudging it towards the right, thus finding that 'sweet spot' in the composition, where it just feels it should be there.

I hesitate to do that for you Pat, as we all have our own take on what's right.

On the other hand, if the intent is to create some tension in the arrangement, a sense of movement maybe, then your choice certainly does that for me.
