So you adjust the focus on each of the 19 photos to highlight a different bit each time but they are all the same view? I am slightly confused.

The process I use is very simple. I open as layers in photoshop, Edit> auto align layers, Layer> smart objects> convert to smart object, Layer> smart objects> stack mode > mean.
