I was using a 200-500 mm lens, but it was set close to 200 mm for this shot. We followed him down the river for about an hour. Most of the time he was on the opposite bank, but sometimes he waded out into the river to try to grab a salmon. He was probably 10 m away here. He was aware of us but not concerned. I guess salmon taste better than people.

How close were you? (ie. how big is your zoom lens?) He looks curious and unaggressive.
