I wondered if f11 was the sweet spot for that lens. Even with 4.5 stops of VR, my senior hands might have not met the challenge!!

@ Simon, I took about 50 shots at varying apertures/ISOs, edited one that seemed good then copy and pasted that one's settings to the other 50. After that I went through them all for a second time and picked the sharpest one, which happened to be @ f/11 and is actually where my lens is supposed to be sharpest according to many reviews I've picked through.


As for hand-holding.. 4.5 stops of VR helps!

Yes, the hand-held part of it really stuns me. The advantages of being young, perhaps.

I'm curious Colton why you opted for a high ISO, rather than fully open the aperture to get a shutter speed to hand hold. This opens the question about the effect of DOF on a distant object (another science project for Doug?)
