I have been interested in photography for the last fifty years...Like many I have owned and used many cameras and lenses, along the film years, struggling in the lab to achieve that elusive good enough image. I have enjoyed medium and large formats most(4x5 inch); then after a period of doubt about my failing creativity, have fully adopted digital photography and never looked back. Moving from my hometown in France to Salt Spring island allowed me to discover and get deeply interested in hummingbirds, a group of bird species unique to the Americas. I am now enthusiastically photographing our local two species, one permanent resident, the other migratory. I photograph hummingbirds year round, on a daily basis, around my island home. I mostly use the high-speed strobe technique, the only acceptable way to obtain sharp and detailed images of hummingbirds in flight.
