Las Tunas
A tuna is a group of university students in traditional university dress who play traditional instruments and sing serenades. The tradition originated in Spain and Portugal in the 13th century as a means of students to earn money or food. Nowadays students don't belong to a "tuna" for money nor food, but seeking to keep a tradition alive, for fun, to travel a lot and to meet new people from other universities. A member of a tuna is a "tunante", but is usually known simply as a "tuno". "Sopista" was the name given in the earlier times of the "tunas" but is still accepted as well.

Chris, My birthday is in August. Last night to appeared to be a celebration of a 21 yo woman's BD.
We then went into the Jarden where a teen group from Leon had hired a maricahi band and had everyone singing and dancing.
Tunas in Salt Spring on a hot August evening........fun for everyone.

You've nailed it Curt, and it looks like these lively men have nailed it too. The paint, the bad plaster, the iron grille and that jarring, crazy (wo)mannequin combine so well. I can hear them crooning about beautiful maidens and broken hearts; one string among them is noticeably flat. Well done, and happy birthday.

Tunas are no longer just students.
I told Gwen that I would love to celebrate my birthday with Tunas and wonder the alleys with music.
