Tamron 24-70 @ 42mm, ISO 64, f/18, 2.5s, tripod

Had a hard time with this one, feel like I've hit a wall with editing it. Maybe it's just the shot itself, or being too critical.. Any tips?

Just to be perverse, I actually like the mossy tree on the left and would edit out the messy right side instead!

Here's what I went with this morning. I think I was just frustrated/spent last night after hiking an assault trail nearby lol. Composition-wise it seems too busy for the eye with all those broken branches in the water.

Ah that tree to left really bothers me now after seeing your crop with it out, well done.

And I, personally, like the bottom left crop of Doug's, the tall one. It gives the X more prominence and lets go of the tree on the left that shut off the creek in the original. Isn't it great how many possibilities there are in a single shot?

I think my biggest beef is the low resolution and dynamic range I got out of the shots. Looks like I was shooting f/18-22 which is where this lens heavily drops in IQ accordingly to DXOMark, and was still quite overexposed. I think I'll be getting an ND filter for future shots like this, and hanging some weight under the tripod for stability.
