Bogged down by a surfeit of seed, I suspect! Do you know what it is and is that seed or is it sand? If it's sand they've had a scourge of some sort of pollution on the beaches down there that has been killing birds. So perhaps a bird without the strength to care about middle-aged men? Hope not, hope it's just a trusting sort.
