Because of its angles and compactness this is one that I might have tried in a square format. I don`t usually like squares but this might show off the blossom more if it were. Did you try that

This is a bit of a design anomaly Wendy. If you use a square format, spacing the edge of the seed head equally on all four sides to the frame, which would be the usual composition, the yellow shape in the background behind the lowest flower, is where the eye goes first, taking the focus point away from the centre. I see some of the lower background needing to be in the composition to balance out the image.

If a square worked every other way, I might try desaturating Yellow to see if that one background yellow flower became less distracting.... Just thoughts though.
