This is a forum discussion site is created to discuss the proposal emailed to you as drafted by Bill Gardam.  It will be on the agenda of our Sept. 14 meeting.

In brief summary:  Bill is suggesting that the Forum section of the website be utilized as an area for "for serious critiquing of images that are specifically submitted for this kind of evaluation."

Yes, I would like technical critique because I need to learn.  I am not thrilled with the threaded aspect as it's sometimes hard to follow chronologically because not everyone replies in the same manner.  I notice that Doug used a "page" within the group.  Does this perhaps mean that each photo submitted could have a separate "page"?   As for artistic critique, well, that only reflects an individual's preferences and prejudices.  The rules of photography are not "musts", but merely are rules as in laws of physics, geometry, etc.  in that they are guidelines for analysis.  I would never go with a rule over what is pleasing to my eye.  Could we perhaps have a little more technical discussion at the monthly meetings?

Pat,

2 points.

1. I have asked Bill to work on the techincal aspects of his proposal for photo critique on the website with Ernie.  And if Doug wants to be involved, he is more than welcome.

2. We do not have an education coordinator.  It has therefore been difficult to have a tech critique at the meeting.  Doug volunteered to show the slides but he did not want to provide the level of critique which Simon used to provide.  We need an education coordinator.
