The Harbour House restaurant seems to now be closed except for Wednesdays and Fridays. I would like to suggest we move our Monday coffees to the Golf Course club house as it has lots of room, tables which can be moved to accommodate a large group and is not so noisy a place so conversations actually could take place. The place opens at 10am and has a small limited breakfast menu.

Good idea! The breakfast menu is much better than that on Harbour House. In fact David and I tried it out today, as the only club members to have a Monday morning meeting. Since I can have a good breakfast there I think it is much more tempting for me to come to the meetings there than it was on Harbour House.

So I hope I will see you at the Golf Course club house next Monday! If you plan to come, please tell here, as we promised the waitress to alert them beforehand if we are a bigger group coming in the morning.

Looks like the decision has already been made:

There is a change of venue for Monday morning coffee gathering.  Harbour House has stopped serving breakfast on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Salt Spring Inn (Lower Ganges Rd and Hereford) has kindly stepped up and we will gather there starting next Monday, September 21, at 10AM.  This will be a new experience for both the Inn and for us. Breakfast food and drink will be available from the menu.  We will experience one long table for 10 or so and then tables for 4-6.  We will locate in the area at the Hereford Ave. end of the restaurant.

Jeremy Milsom has extended us a warm welcome.

Coffee, tea, food, social, photography.....it is all good.

hmn. well, I liked the idea of the Golf breakfast. totally different. oh well.

Welcome to the spacious parking possibilities downtown Ganges! On my part I would prefer the Golf  Course club. Good breakfast, good parking lot, spacious. I cannot really see any advantages with Saltspring Inn.Should we let them decide for us, or should we decide for ourselves? Come on, club members, think!

I think peeps want to be downtown.  Were I to attend it would serve me to park and walk for all my errands.  On the other hand, I have found the Inn's acoustics painful.

Bad acoustics and and a crammed space. Really not an ideal place for a meeting.

David, Ernie and Timmy,  I am sorry that you are not happy about the decision to move the coffee gathering from the closed Harbour House to the Salt Spring Inn.  This decision was a unilateral decision.  Our President is in Toronto.  Our Vice President is fighting cancer.  Our Past President (me) had a full agenda for the week.  A quick decision had to be made.

Three places were considered and discussed by those of us standing in front of a closed Harbour House last Monday.  All had pros and cons.  Fernwood, Salt Spring Golf Club and Salt Spring Inn.

On Monday, while five of us moved to coffee and breakfast at the Inn, it was convenient to just make the arrangements and move forward.  Jeremy at the Inn was very welcoming.

So next Monday, we are at the Inn.  If we wish as a club to move to another location, we may do so.  I will ask Wendy to put the item on the agenda of the next meeting.  It can also be discussed with Wendy at the coffee gathering this coming Monday.

See you there.

Curt

no problem for me. I rarely attend anyway.  so thank you for stepping in.

I have no problem with a decision being made. I had hoped for some discussion first which is why I suggested the Golf course. Lots of parking, no stairs and lots of room for discussion both figuratively and literally.

I like the Golf Course better as well, the parking in Ganges is a "royal" pain.  However, some members prefer more central location and the Inn is all what we have left.  Perhaps we can do one month at the Inn and one month at the Golf Course and based on our experience make a decision.

No one has yet to mention Embe's or Dagwoods???

Dagwoods is a bit gloomy. I don't see any advantages there compared to the clubhouse. Embe's has simply no space for meetings. As far as I can see, there is no place as good as the clubhouse.

The more I think of it, the more convinced I am that the clubhouse is ideal for us.
