Cat Photography

For those who want to photography your or someone else's pet, there is an excellent article about David Sutton, pet photographer and his trade tricks in today's (Oct 24) Times Colonist section "C".

It is a reprint from the Chicago Tribune and I could not find a link available to anyone outside the USA.

Have fun.

Salt Spring Roasting Company presentation

If you have not dropped into the Roasting Company in awhile, I highly recommend it.

Doug McMillin puts together an excellent show on their monitor of the Club's work.  Another of our club's efforts in sharing photography with the community.  The show is interspaced with well designed slides promoting SS Coffee and the people who grow it.

Avril Kirby has another of her very fine shows.  New work, old work, excellent photography.

Kudos to Doug, Avril and…

Mac needed to borrow

As you may know, the photo club has been working with Ag Alliance and GISS in a farm photo project.  The project is nearing completion, but due to the teacher strike/lockout, there is no access to the GISS MAC computer.
Do you have an extra MAC which can handle Adobe Creative Suite 4 or higher?  This would be a loan to the Ag Alliance for the balance of the summer or less;  may be only 30 days..  It would be used by a student under Ag Alliance coordinator, Elizabeth…

Group outing to see Tom Gilligan's Gabriola show

Most of you remember Tom who moved late last year to Gabriola.  You will note that his show is in our events calendar.  In my opinion, his work was some of the best in Eclectic Visions each year.  His current work uses nature in both abstracts and humor.  I am posting these as a taste for your enjoyment.  Several members are considering a group trip to Gabriola.  Tom's show. Lunch at a great pizzeria. A photo shoot outing.  If you are interested, just post a comment that says: YES.  Week day…

Chamber to buy Club Photos

The SSI Chamber is in the process of purchasing four DVDs (in USB form) from the Club.  They are purchasing one for each season.

It is their intent to go through the images to see if they want any of them for their Visitor's Guide.  They print 50,000 copies of the guide for wide distribution.   Since each club member owns their own images and since the DVD images are not in proper resolution for printing, the Chamber of Commerce (Janet Clouston, manager) will contact you with…
