Since I can remember, I have taken photographs of everyday moments in my life. Whether it was taking photos of my travels, or capturing daily moments of my four children, my camera was always with me. I can proudly say that each of my kids have several chronologically assembled albums to remind them of their childhood.
Last fall, my oldest son gave me used Nikon D90. His university friend was upgrading to a better camera so he felt that it was time for me to toss my point-and-shoot camera and “get with the times”. I was truly thrilled and touched the same time. Aperture, ISO, and shutter speed? What is that? If I remember correctly, I picked up the camera few times and everything felt so complicated. One rainy night, I decided to read up on this complex subject of DSLR cameras. Thank you YouTube for being there for me! Within weeks I found myself totally in love with the camera. Suddenly, I was spending nearly all of my spare time on learning about it. What do I like the most about photography? Trying to capture and share the essence of a natural place through photography. No two nature photos are ever the same, always a different light, and always different conditions. Thus, begins my endless romance with photography.

Cheers, J.…

Some of the new members have asked me for advice on how to determine the right price for your work. So, the BIG question is what to charge for your work and how do you figure it out?

1. Make sure you are fully compensated: keep track of your costs (frame, mat, cost of printing), including computer…

What a night, 300 people packed the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery for the Ladysmith fine Arts Show opening reception. It was amazing. All work is for sale. If you are a collector or lover of art this is the place to visit as there are some amazing art creations. In particular, some of the three dimensional pieces are simply fabulous. The show runs until the end of February. As some of you already know Elehna de Sousa and I have few pieces in the show. However, if you can't…
