Spirit Lake near Bruce Peak in February 2006. The lake was freezing over in a wind.

Some maps show it as Rosemurgy's Lake and I've heard it called Spirit Lake.

Watched Joe's video and it seems like a much bigger lake when you're walking around on top of it than it does when you're walking beside it.

Oh, this is the little lake to the right of the road on the way to Musgrave? If so, I know it well, having photographed it in warmer times. Didn't know what its name was.

I think that the frozen ice on the left was a few centimetres thick, but the water on the right was prevented from freezing by the wind blowing on it.  Spirit Lake often freezes that way.  There is no sandy beach and a number of logs have fallen into the shores of the lake.  You can access it from Musgrave Road at the end of the long climb up from Drummond Park.  I've (along with a lot of other Salt Springers) skated on it when it froze well.

Rabies? (looks like a frothy bite mark) Can't make up my mind if this is lightly frozen water and detritus on the left--I can see reflections, I think--or some sort of sandy lake edge. I think it's water. Like the lines of shadow running down to the dark. Worth looking at full size, interesting photo.
